The United States Debt and Your Debt

Kelly Smith • Mar 23, 2022

We are in trouble. Get ready!

As you are most likely aware, the United States government is in an extreme debt situation that has been going on for decades. Congress has absolved themselves of coming up with a balanced budget, thanks to Harry Reid.

The current reading on the debt clock as of Wednesday, April 27, 2022, shows that it's over $30 trillion.

Glenn Beck did a FOIA request clear back in 2010 asking for information on how much the government spent trying to bail out the big banks like Lehman Brothers after the housing crisis? They claimed it was $5 trillion, but he did not believe it. The request got denied and then delayed, and then finally, back in January 2022, the information was released.

They spent $29 trillion.

Since the COVID 19 pandemic began in March 2020, our federal government has spent almost $1 trillion per WEEK, keeping everything flowing and the banks afloat. Sadly, most of that money went to Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other groups that were not the ones that needed it, like you and me. We may have gotten a stimulus check or two, but that's a small fraction of $95 trillion!

All of that money then caused inflation at 8.5% per month with no end in sight.

The problem is that what's coming will be very difficult to deal with. A depression that is far greater than the one in the 1930s is just around the corner. They have PLANNED it that way so they can gobble up everything that the rest of us have. The ONLY safety in any degree is ownership of your home and everything that you want to keep.

We are in for another Great Depression. Depressions and Recessions are long drawn out affairs. They aren't over within a month or a year, and this one will be no different.

If there is ANY way to pay off the debt, do it! The problem is the housing market is complete bananas right now because CORPORATIONS are buying up homes, squeezing out families, and forcing them into less than desirable options.

But we as Saints are not prepared or out of debt as instructed. Why? Because we are vain and weak and want what we want right now. If we can put it on credit, yippee! We don't have to wait and save for it; we can have it now! But in that process, we are now in bondage to the creditors who now OWN us.

And then, all of a sudden, we've purchased a dozen things on credit, a bigger car, a boat, a second car, a trailer, a hot tub, a bigger house, a trip to Disneyland, another to Hawaii, etc., etc., etc. and so what do you know? We don't have enough money to pay these debts. We are stressed and angry, we take a second job, or the spouse has to work, and no one is there to see the kids off to school or pick them up from school. The pressures of it all cause marriages to strain, tithing to be a struggle, church service to wane, and scripture study stops. No time for prayers. No Ministering to others.

And then an accident hits. A teenager is T-boned in the car and is now in the hospital. Someone in the family gets cancer. The husband loses his job. Wildfire destroys their home. Something happens. People cry out to God. Some seek him. Some curse him.

And everything falls apart.

Why? Because we are an idolatrous people.

Accidents will happen. Sicknesses will happen. Those usually have nothing to do with idolatry, but not preparing for such situations, not being free from debts, and being in a position of strength that comes through faith in following guidance from our prophets and scriptures, leaves us vulnerable and weak.

We are about to see the damage of such idolatry all over the country. The commandment to be independent above all people is still in force, yet we are in servitude to them.

"Upon my house shall it begin." (D&C 112:25) The Great and Spacious Building is about to collapse, and sadly, many members are in that building. We are not humble. We seek after riches and the vain things of the world. We live with one foot in Babylon and another pinky toe in Zion.

We are in for real trouble. I wish I had better news. Do what you can to get out of debt and be prepared!

You can survive nuclear fallout if you prepare for it

This is a recording of a class taught on how to survive nuclear fallout in our area. We are not a place that will most likely receive a direct hit if nuclear war breaks out, but we definitely need to prepare for the fallout that may come from other nearby targets.
